Balloons make wonder resources for activities. They are inexpensive and easy to set up, you just need to blow them up and tie them and bam fun can begin. Kids love playing with balloons, which is wonderful since it is so cheap and easy to achieve.
Balloons are also a great activity for when the weather is poor and you need to stay inside. They will also be able to get some energy out while doing these activities. And isn’t that always the goal?
These activities can help entertain the kids for hours. When ever our nephews come over too we whip out the balloons and just have a blast playing these games with more players.
As a child I remember playing with balloons with my siblings and it always was accompanied with tons of laughs. I am sure that if you try some of these activities laughter and joy will be throughout your home!
You can find balloons about anywhere, they are in most every store including the dollar store. Which makes balloon activities even better, they are a ton of fun and you don’t need to come close to breaking the bank to get them.
So here they are! 6 amazing indoor activities with Balloons:
1: Keep the balloon in the air using only your hands. You can easily switch this one up and only allow knees, elbows, head, etc. It is probably the most played balloon game but it is one of the best to play.
2: Have the kids try to balance the balloon, and walk around. Time them and see how long they can balance the balloon, see if you can balance on your elbow longer than your head or any combo of limbs.
3: Hit the balloon into the air and then see how many times you can jump, spin, march, clap before the balloon comes down. You can switch out what they do while they wait for the balloon to come down, asks the kids what they want to do and let them be creative.
4: Balloon basketball, put a basket out or a box and let the kids play horse with the balloon. You can put the basket farther away, or higher onto things to make things more challenging.
5: Balloon tennis! Glue or tape some sticks, popsicle stick, or anything you want to a paper plate and make the tennis rackets. Then let the kids hit it back and forth to each other. You can also have them try to hit it into a basket or a certain place in the room.
6: Balloon Volleyball. This one is pretty self explanatory, use the balloon as the volley ball. You can always try to find something to be the net. Or you can also just make a divider in a room and the kids can not cross it. They can hit the ball back and forth to each other.
Conclusion:
This activities are easily adapted and easy to do. Kids love to have fun and simple games. Which makes balloons the perfect activity, they are easy, cheap, and endless entertainment.
Something to remember as well is if the kiddos are not playing the rules exactly or have adapted the game to their liking, do no redirect them. Let them explore the world and the games. If they are having a good time and are safe its good to leave them alone.
Playing is important work for kids to do, it helps them develop and prepare for the world. It is kids jobs to play and explore the world around them. As parents it is important to encourage that.
Setting up activities like these ones with balloons can help them kick start their imagination and independent play. Which is my favorite!
