Teaching Your Kids the Bible:
Teaching your kids the Bible can seem quite intimidating. It is so crucial to make sure you keep habits to help your kiddos learn the Bible. Here are so ideas to support your journey of teaching your kids the Bible.
Pray with them before hand:
Praying before you read the Bible with the kids will help them understand that it is good to pray for understanding and guidance when reading His word. Pray with them for understanding of His word and for direction in life.
A story Bible:
There is several simple and wonderful story Bibles on Amazon, I will link some options Here. Having a picture book of the Bible will help them visualize what you are reading about.
Talk to them about what you just read:
Asking them questions can help you know if they are retaining anything you are reading about. While you are reading stop and ask them questions, like what did “God tell ____ to do?”, “what lesson can we learn from this story”, etc. It is also important to encourage them to ask you questions so they are understanding what you’re trying to teach them.
Coloring pages:
Pinterest has a ton of Bible story coloring pages, having an activity for the kids to do along with reading the story could help your child remember what you read and learned about.
Bible Story Printables:
I love this blog, they have a wealth of bible activity for the kids. It helps them have fun while learn the Bible. They have wonderful and helpful activities to teach your little ones about God. Here is a (link) to their page. You won’t regret it.
Read a couple verses every night:
Reading a verse or two with them before going to bed will help them add reading the Bible to their routine. Adding God and His word to their routine they will learn more about the Bible and know it is very important.
Let them see you read your bible:
Leading by example is crucial with children. By letting them see that you prioritize your time with the Lord and your Bible will only remind them that this is important. I try to read my Bible every morning when I eat breakfast, both my girls know that I do this and often my oldest one will read her picture book Bible with me.
