Sensory bins are a simple way to entertain your kiddos. It is so fun to add a seasonal twist to the sensory bin. By changing things up it also makes a sensory bins almost like a new activity. Here are some fall sensory bins ideas for you to try out with your family.

Corn:

These one is so much fun and so simple. Corn kernels are very in expensive. You can add things to scoop or toy farm animals. Corn is a popular food for farm animals and this gives you the opportunity to talk and learn about farm animals.

Corn also comes in more colors than just yellow. If you go to a local farmers market, or even order some online you can find, white, yellow and purple kernels. I will list here, the purple corn we use.

Orange Lentils and Black Pasta:

While the orange lentils come as the color you need, you will need to dye bow tie pasta. Add some bow tie pasta into a Ziploc bag and add some black paint. Shake the bag until the pasta is coated. You will need to let it dry before adding it to the sensory bin.

It looks so cute! Like little bats for a great Halloween spin on the sensory bin. Another thing it add could be eyeball sprinkles.

I found some at the dollar store and it was so fun!

Oatmeal and Apples:

You do not need to use actual apples for this one, a plastic apple will still get the theme across. Putting some cinnamon sticks into this sensory bin will add a extra fall twist and a great smell. You can scoop and pour or add toys to the bin to play with.

Adding chickpeas dyed red could also add to the apple look. Little red apples in a sea of oatmeal. OR you can add orange chickpeas and they can be little pumpkins!!

To give it a little extra focus on fine motor skills the task could be to pick out all the apples/pumpkins with either their hands or tongs.

Orange and Black Rice:

Just like the bow tie pasta you will need to dye the rice before letting the kiddos play with it, but it is a fun Halloween sensory bin. You can add plastic bones from the Dollar Store, fangs, and anything else you want to make the bin have some more holiday excitement.

Rice is such an easy ingredient to find and yet its uses feel endless! Dinner to sensory bin. By adding color (or not) you can not go wrong with a rice sensory bin.

Colored Chickpeas:

This one may require the most work up front, you will need to separate the chickpeas put them in a Ziploc bag with some paint. How many colors you want is up to you. Shake the chickpeas in a bag with the paint and then let dry before letting the kids play.

Another fun theme you can do with this one(or really any of them, make them your own) is dye the chick peas green, red, yellow, or just leave them white. Then add some cupcake liners to the dish with some meausuring spoons/cups. This could be an apple pie theme!

If you are feeling super into it, you can cut some tan felt into little pie crust toppers and let your kids make pies galor!

Black Beans:

Black beans are great for pouring and scooping. Using some tongs to really focus on fine motor skills is awesome as well. The black beans add a little fun fall pop to the sensory bin. By adding orange lentils or really anything orange to this you will get that Halloween colors which is amazing!

This is a good one to add trucks, excavators, dump trucks to and pretend the black beans are rocks.

Green and Orange Lentils:

Green and orange will add an undeniable splash of the fall season. Lentils are pretty easy to find at your local store but are such an interesting texture to your kiddos day.

We went on a walk to find fun leaves to add to the bin. I loved that it got us outside and looking around in nature. You can do some many things to incorporate into them.

Go on a scavenger hunt for things to add to your bin! Let your kids lead the activity and see their imagination flourish!!!
