Valentines Day Date Ideas

I adore that we have a whole day that is meant to be purely about love. Celebrating is such a wonderful way to show your significant other that you appreciate them and are happy to be with them.

Having a date night is a great way to spend one on one time with your spouse. Quality time is so important for a healthy marriage. To show your husband that he is important that you two together are important.

My husband and I make it a point to go on a date every month. We need that time to just spend with each other and keep our marriage strong and healthy. I just love that Valentines Day gives a excuse to spend the day showing each other our love.

Though sometimes thinking date ideas can be very tiring. Especially when you run out of ideas! So when I hear one that I like, I write it down to keep it for when I need an idea for Bryton and I. Here is 14 Valentine’s Day date ideas that I love and are super simple but open to truly bond and spend time with your loved one.

1. Recreate your first date

Bryton and I do not agree on what our first date was, so this one for us may be a tad difficult. But I just think the idea of recreating your first date or even a date that you loved is so romantic. It helps you remember the spark or the beginning of the relationship.

A twist on this one would be to recreate a fun date, or just a good memory. Remind you guys of all the good times and memories to be made in the future.

2. Take a walk/hike

Before having kids Bryton and I hiked a lot. It is a reason that we got an Austrailian Shepherd, we wanted a dog that could keep up with the activity level. Well flash forward 4 years and I am pregnant with our third baby girl. I do not have the energy all the time for hikes.

So we have swapped hikes for walks. I love that just walking with your spouse you can do so many things, you can talk, explore your own town, see nature, and just spend quality time with each other.

When the weather permits we walk all the time, I would suggest this date idea over and over. It is such a good way to be with your husband, exercise, and just talk about anything and everything.

3. Movie Night

Gathering up a blanket some yummy snacks and cuddling with your spouse is a great and inexpensive way to spend your valentines. There is something so romantic about just cuddling and being there in the moment with the one you love.

Maybe light a candle or even make a makeshift bed on the floor to watch the movie. There is several twists to add to this idea to make it yours and feel more personal to you and your husband.

4. Picnic

This idea just screams romance to me. It is intimate, gentle, and charming. The meal does not need to be anything super fancy. You can get salami, cheese, and crackers and call it good. Grab some drinks or a thermos of water and just sit, talk, and enjoy each others company.

The location of this one is super simple too. You can do any park or maybe even take a hike and have a picnic lunch. We have also had a picnic in our living room and our backyard. What is important is the company you have and the good times made.

5. Ice Cream Date

I LOVE ice cream, frozen yogurt, or custard. Truly one of the best things that has even been invented. Add on top of that you get the treat with the one you love the most. Ugh, its amazing. Often Bryton and I go on ice cream dates.

For Christmas someone gave us gift cards to Dairy Queen, we were so excited because it is a already paid for ice cream date. I love to indulge in a good dessert and just talk with Bryton. It is a good time, good treats, and good company.

There is something so magical to me about the simple dates that make them even better. Love does not need to be complicated and neither do your dates!

6. Stargazing

Okay, this one is truly so darn romantic. Does it really get anymore romantic then laying on a blanket under the wide open night sky? Looking up at the beauty God has created. I love looking for silly patterns in the stars.

There is something so regal and whimsical about stargazing. It also is FREE! Which makes it even better. Make some stellar memories with your husband on a stargazing date.

7. Wine Tasting

Doesn’t this just scream romantic? This is such a elegant date idea, maybe get your nice dress on and go out and taste some good wine with your husband. You may not have a winery in your town, but the joy of google is you can find one near you.

OR you could combine it with the picnic and buy some wine at your liquor store and then just try them while you have your picnic. You could add your own personal touch to this one to accommodate what you and your spouse want to do.

8. Book Shopping

This date idea can even help your local community. Find a local book store and go shopping. You could even have your husband pick a book out for you and you pick one out for him!

Bryton and I both LOVE to read, whenever we are on vacation we try to find a local book store and get a book from there. It is one of my favorite dates that we do. It is so fun, and simple.

9. Cook Together

Pick a dish out and then spend the night cooking together. You can put music on and dance while you prepare the food! It is such a cozy date idea, you don’t need to go anywhere but your home.

But you get to spend quality time with your spouse, and that is all that dates are about. Spending time with your loved one. Having your husband do things like cook with you make the whole experience so much more entertaining. I love when Bryton helps me cook or even just sits in the kitchen while I make dinner.

10. Game Night

Another simple and cheap date idea! Those straight up are my favorite. Bryton and I often play a game of cards together, or chess. I am VERY competitive, but it such a good time full of laughter.

Playing a game with your spouse can add some playful competition and let off some steam. Pour a glass of wine and whip out your favorite game and enjoy!!

11. A Museum

Dive into your local museum and learn something about your town together. Or explore a different time or region together by spending some time at a museum. Call me old and boring but I adore going to a museum.

I love to learn and so does Bryton, you will create some special memories with this date idea. What is better than spending some good quality time with your husband and maybe learning something while you are at it?

12. Take a drive

If you are having a hard time communicating I highly recommend this date. You have no where to go, and you can just talk endlessly. Bryton and I have our best talks in the car. You will be able to spend some excellent one on one time together.

Talk about your goals, dreams, what you love about your husband, literally anything you want. It is your conversation and your marriage. You get to mold it into what you want it to be.

13. Couples Massage

How relaxing is this date? You and your husband will feel so refreshed. Bryton and I got a couple massage on an anniversary trip we took, and it was amazing. We talk about doing it again all the time.

You don’t have to talk but just share the joy that is pampering yourself. You will never regret getting a massage.

14. Go Dancing

Take a swing dancing class, or just go to the local bar and enjoy the music. Let loose with this idea, and just enjoy being near your spouse. You do not need to be good at dancing to enjoy being in the moment, and letting loose.

Be in the moment. Those create some of the best memories.

Conclusion:

Dating your spouse is important to keep a healthy marriage, and there is a ton of romantic and simple date ideas to pick from. Valentines gives us a wonderful excuse to rejoice and spend time with the one we love.

Take some time out of your life and spend some good quality time with your husband. Show him that you love him, and remind each other why you fell in love and continue to build a lasting relationship.
